FERRUM, Va. Dropping two games on Saturday, the Methodist softball team was held in check by the Ferrum College Panthers, scoring just three runs during the doubleheader. The Monarchs were blanked in the first game and were unable to keep up offensively in game two.

HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME 1
- With two outs in the bottom of the first, Kiersten Margoupis hit one batter before walking the next three to send a run across the plate for Ferrum. A two–run homer in the second inning gave the Panthers a 3–0 advantage, and they extended that lead in the third with two more runs.
- Methodist was unable to capitalize on early chances of their own offensively, leaving six runners stranded across the second, third and fourth innings.
- The Monarchs were held to just four hits for the entire game. Grace Hobbs was the lone player to record multiple hits for Methodist, batting 2–for–3. Margoupis fanned seven batters over the span of six innings but also conceded seven hits and five walks.
HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME 2
- Rachel Blanchard and Hannah Lovick got the Monarchs off to a hotter start in the second game. Blanchard brought Lovick home in the top of the first with a sacrifice fly, then again in the third inning on a double to right–center field.
- The Panthers answered with a four–run third inning, claiming a two–run lead. Methodist pulled within one run in the fifth when an RBI from Alyssa Rivas made the score 4–3, but Ferrum knocked two doubles in the sixth to bring home three more runs, propelling the hosts to a 7–3 victory.
- Lovick and Rivas each recorded two hits during the game, totaling four of Methodist's five hits.
