HOW IT HAPPENED
- LaGrange struck first as Tyler Abrams scored the first goal of the contest. - A low scoring second quarter saw the Monarchs narrowly edge out the Panthers 2-1. Early on in the frame the two sides traded off goals, with Legg finding the back of the cage again, and then with three minutes left until halftime, Kavounis scored his second goal, giving Methodist an 8–2 lead.
- In the third quarter, goals by Cy Horner and Oby matched the two scores the Monarchs surrendered to LaGrange, then Methodist went on to score the six final goals of the game. Of the six, Legg and Kavounis were the only repeating goal scorers while Matt Bentz, Graham Clausen, and Noah Hewett scored for the first time in the contest.
