FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. Following some morning/early afternoon thunderstorms on Wednesday, Methodist University baseball hosted Johnson & Wales University of Providence, Rhode Island, in a non-conference game, as the Monarchs took advantage of a poor defensive Wildcats team and won the contest by a score of 10–4.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Both teams recorded their first runs of the ballgame in the second inning. Following a Henry Melanson double, Yedan Diaz smacked a base hit back up the middle to drive in the opening run for Johnson & Wales.
- Methodist would take a 7–1 lead in the bottom half of the inning, as three consecutive singles loaded up the bases for the Monarchs. Then, RBIs by Caleb Rogers (1), Banks Engle (1), and Parker Evans (2) drove in four Methodist runs. Additional RBIs from Brandon Mauger and Banks Hartman, along with a JWU error, allowed the Monarchs to score three more runs.
- After Methodist recorded three more runs, one in the third and two in the sixth, to stretch its lead to 10–1, the Wildcats scored two runs in the seventh inning on just one swing by Owen Davis, as he clobbered a two-run home run.
- The final Johnson & Wales run came in the eighth inning, as Melanson got on base with a double, and then he scored after a pass ball and a ground out.
