Records: Methodist 4-3 (1-0 USA South), Southern Virginia 3-3 (0-1)
Location: Knight Stadium; Buena Vista, Virginia

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Methodist took a 3–0 lead after Kaitlyn Coleman found the back of the cage twice, along with Mikayla Ramos recording the other goal. The two teams then traded off the next four goals to make the score 5–2 by the end of the first quarter, with Coleman and Ramos scoring again for the Monarchs.
  • Following a slow start to the second quarter, the Methodist duo of Coleman and Rylie Sturgill took over, as the pair scored the next five straight goals, three from Coleman and two by Sturgill. Now with a 10–1 advantage, the Monarchs nearly held Southern Virginia off the scoreboard in the period, until Makenzie Mickelsen registered a free position goal with a minute and a half left.
  • The dominance of Methodist continued into the third and fourth quarters, as the Monarchs scored nine more goals and did not surrender any more to the Knights. In the third, Kennedy Martin, Erika Henry, Coleman, and Layla Wiesenfeld all recorded a Methodist goal to push the score to 14–3. Then, Wiesenfeld registered three more goals in the fourth quarter, along with Maddie Hagler and Macey Blackburn putting a shot past Southern Virginia's goalie as well.
