BREVARD, N.C. It was a swift victory for the Methodist men's tennis team on Saturday as the Monarchs took down conference foe Brevard College in sweeping fashion. Entering the match, the Tornados were ranked 71st in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's Top–75 rankings.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Harry Crokam and Ethan Carlyle were first to finish in the doubles round, winning the No. 3 match by a score of 6–0. Matthew Hurley and Decklan Rayner once again overpowered their challengers in the top doubles match, defeating the No. 1 Brevard duo 6-2 and officially clinching one point toward Methodist's team score. In the No. 2 doubles match, Drew Guarnieri and Cameron Roth handled business with a 6–2 victory of their own.
- Carlyle was fastest in the singles round, wrapping up the No. 4 match with two set wins of 6–0. Next was Crokam, who claimed the No. 2 match after downing his opponent with sets of 6–0 and 6–2.
- Christian Tihanovich was back in action for Methodist, collecting a win in the No. 5 match with sets of 6–1 and 6–2 to give the Monarchs their fourth point, clinching the team win.
- Hurley continued his dominant season in the No. 1 spot, defeating his opponent with sets of 6–1 and 6–4. On the sixth singles court, Guarnieri's 6–3 and 6–4 sets put Methodist one win away from completing the sweep.
- After dropping his first set 7–5, Anton McCloskey responded with a 6–4 in the second. It all came down to a tiebreaker, which McCloskey won 10–7.

The Monarchs have a busy Sunday planned, with a match at Mars Hill University set for 10 a.m. before making the hour and a half drive to King University in Bristol, Tennessee for a 3 p.m. match.
