Monarchs Fall to Falcons

MISENHEIMER, N.C.  While taking on the 24th–ranked Falcons of Pfeiffer University, the Methodist softball team suffered a pair of losses on Saturday. The Monarchs were held scoreless in both contests.

HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME 1
  • Kiersten Margoupis pitched well in a complete six innings of work, giving up just five hits in total. After conceding one run in the bottom of the first and two runs in the second, she held the Falcons at bay for the remainder of the game.
  • Methodist batters tallied just three hits — one each for Grace Hobbs, Rachel Lawson and Haley Downes.
HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME 2
  • Emma Neeley and Mia Wraight pitched two innings apiece for the Monarchs. Pfeiffer put up four runs in the first inning, then added six more in the fourth.
  • Methodist was held to two hits — one by Rachel Blanchard and another by pinch hitter Reilly Howell.
NUMBERS
  • Blanchard's hit went for a double — her 13th of the season and 20th extra–base hit in total.
UP NEXT
Methodist is set to host North Carolina Wesleyan University on Tuesday for a doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m.
