FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. Facing Greensboro College for the second consecutive weekend, the Methodist women's lacrosse team was victorious in the First Round of the USA South Tournament on Saturday, defeating the sixth–seeded Pride by a score of 24–1. The third–seeded Monarchs tied their season high for the most goals scored in a single game.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Methodist scored seven goals in the first eight minutes, including three by Mikayla Ramos and two more which she assisted on. After conceding a goal to Greensboro on a free position shot, the Monarchs piled on five more scores before the end of the quarter. Layla Wiesenfeld ended the period with a team–high four goals.
- Methodist added just three goals in the second quarter, with two coming from the stick of Maddie Hagler. Kaitlyn Coleman scored two of the team's five goals in the third quarter, giving the Monarchs a 19–goal advantage. Coleman and Lailah Espinal each scored a pair in the final quarter.
FAST FACTS
- Coleman and Wiesenfeld each scored five goals, while Ramos led the team with eight points (four goals and four assists).
- Kennedy Martin tallied team highs of five goals, six ground balls, seven draw controls and three caused turnovers.
- The Monarchs have now set a program record in caused turnovers for the fourth consecutive season, surpassing last season's total of 227. With 14 on Saturday, the Monarchs have recorded 231 caused turnovers this season.

A rematch with Piedmont University awaits the Monarchs in the semifinal round of the USA South Tournament. The two teams with face off on Thursday at 4:30 p.m. in Raleigh on the campus of top–seeded Meredith College.
Methodist's last meeting with Piedmont was in Demorest, Georgia on April 12, when the Lions narrowly defeated the Monarchs by a score of 11–10.
