OPENING ROUND

  • In a tie for first, individually, Haden Ruby shot a three-under 69 in the first round. He combated two bogeys and a double bogey with three birdies on the back nine, for one-over, before going on cruise control during his time on the front nine, making four birdies and five pars.
  • Caleb Ryan, the defending 2024 individual champion, was the only other golfer to post a sub-par score in the opening round, 71 (-1). Four birdies on the back nine had him at four-under heading into the turn, but then on the front nine, a pair of bogeys and a double bogey, along with another birdie, tripped him up some.
  • Aiden Spampinato was just one of two golfers to make even par, 72, which put him in a tie for fourth. He erased a bogey and double bogey with three birdies on the back nine, then paring the entire front nine.
  • Sitting one stroke behind Spampinato, Chase Walts sits in a tie for sixth after posting a one-over-par 73. He had a little bit of a rough start as he made three bogeys across his first six holes, but he managed to lower his score down to a one-under, with four birdies during the next six. Another hiccup on holes 5 and 6, double bogey and bogey, respectively, put him at two-over until he made one final birdie on hole 8.
  • Beau Brewer rounds out the Monarch's starting five, and he is in 12th with a score of four-over 76. After dropping a birdie on his third hole of the round, he added a triple bogey and two bogeys to his scorecard, on the back nine. He would go even on the front nine, making three birdies, a bogey, and a double bogey.
