DANVILLE, Va. Earning a win for the first time in 2025, the Methodist women's soccer team put together a dominant second half against Averett University, scoring three times while posting a shutout. With a record of 1–0–2, the Monarchs have their first three–game start to the season without a loss since 2022.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Monarchs piled on 13 shots in the first half but were unable to convert on any scoring opportunities. Averett goalkeeper Tiia Chrons made five first–half saves.
- Methodist scored quickly in the second half, as Emy Cloutier connected with Ally Quiroz for a goal to put the Monarchs up 1–0 in the 51st minute.
- After a save by Carolina Simpkins in the 70th minute, the Monarchs moved the ball to the opposite end of the field and tacked on a second score — this time off a pass from Brynn Ludka that set Brooke Hunter up for her first goal of the season.
- In the 82nd minute, a corner kick led to another insurance goal for Methodist as Cloutier delivered a ball to Daphne Paleocrassas, which she directed inside the lower left side of the frame.
NUMBERS
- The Monarchs finished the match with 20 total shots taken — a mark they only surpassed once during the 2024 season.
- With a pair of assists on the night, Cloutier now lead the Monarchs with three assists on the season, having helped on all but one of the team's scores.
