HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Monarchs piled on 13 shots in the first half but were unable to convert on any scoring opportunities. Averett goalkeeper Tiia Chrons made five first–half saves.
  • Methodist scored quickly in the second half, as Emy Cloutier connected with Ally Quiroz for a goal to put the Monarchs up 1–0 in the 51st minute.
  • After a save by Carolina Simpkins in the 70th minute, the Monarchs moved the ball to the opposite end of the field and tacked on a second score — this time off a pass from Brynn Ludka that set Brooke Hunter up for her first goal of the season.
