HOW IT HAPPENED
- Methodist struck first in the 30th minute, when Shaw attempted to clear a free kick but Cloutier intercepted at the top of the box and buried a right-footed shot into the upper corner for her first career goal.
- Trailing 1-0, Shaw applied more pressure in the second half and drew a foul inside the penalty area in the 79th minute. Lorena Gonzalez converted the spot kick to the left side of the goal, evening the score at 1-1.
- The Monarchs generated a few late chances but were unable to reclaim the lead.
NUMBERS
- Methodist narrowly outshot Shaw 8 to 6, but it was the Bears that recorded more shots on goal, edging out the Monarchs 4 to 1.
- Senior Kaylea Carter was in the net for Methodist, and she had a game-high three saves.
- This was just the second-ever regular-season meeting between these two schools.
