ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. Without difficulty, the Methodist volleyball team earned a 3–0 victory over North Carolina Wesleyan University on Tuesday evening, picking up its third win in USA South play. The Monarchs stifled the Battling Bishops, holding them to a negative hitting percentage on the night.

How It Happened
Methodist truly dominated the first set, winning 12 of the first 15 points. The Monarchs recorded 10 kills during the set while benefitting from North Carolina Wesleyan's 11 attack errors paired with just two kills.
The second set saw Methodist's best hitting efficiency on the night as the squad turned 26 attacks into 10 kills with just four errors.
Carlyn Tanis led the way with three kills and a service ace during the set, while
Mary Miller added two aces and
Jessie Gober contributed one as well.
The final set was the most competitive of the match, with Methodist only leading 8–7 after the first 15 points. Reigning USA South Rookie of the Week
Addison Johnson found her rhythm, earning five kills towards the first 10 points that were won by the Monarchs in the set. As Methodist began to pull away,
Savannah Hovander dropped in an ace to make the score 15–10. With the Monarchs up 24–19, Hovander got another ace to fall, ending the match.
Highlights
Miller finished the night with a team–high four service aces. Johnson led the team in kills with nine, closely followed by Tanis and Hovander who each had seven. A fairly quiet night at the net for
Jamie Holton (five kills) did not mean her impact on the match wasn't felt; the senior made her presence known defensively with a team–best 18 digs, which tied her career high.
