GREENSBORO, N.C. The Methodist women's soccer team played a hard-fought 1-1 draw in midweek action on Wednesday at Guilford College. The Monarchs struck early in the first half, but the Quakers answered late to even the match inside the Armfield Athletic Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- In the 21st minute, junior Allye Carter connected on a give-and-go from graduate student Emy Cloutier to put Methodist in front 1-0. Carter chipped a well-placed shot from 32 yards out over the goalkeeper's reach and into the back left corner of the net.
- The score remained the same for the majority of the contest until the 84th minute, when Guilford knotted it up on a penalty kick. Kylee Berry elected to take the PK for the Quakers, and she buried it in the bottom-right corner.
- In goal for the Monarchs, senior Kaylea Carter was strong throughout, tallying four saves –two per half– to keep her team level in the closing minutes.
NUMBERS
- Methodists' attack was spearheaded by freshman Byrnn Ludka, who registered a team-high four shots, including two on goal.
- Overall, neither team generated many shots on goal as the Monarchs had three on target while Guilford had five.
- Methodist and the Quakers combined for 20 fouls, underscoring the physical nature of the contest.
