Records: Methodist 5–10 (4–4 USA South), William Peace 8–7 (5–3 USA South)
Location: Herman Student Center; Raleigh, North Carolina
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Methodist opened the contest with strong energy, as sophomores Korin Gladden and Jada Richardson each scored early baskets to give the Monarchs a 4–0 lead. After a brief tie-up, Eva McRae and Kayleen Grullon added quick scores to push Methodist back in front, 8–4. William Peace responded late in the quarter, however, closing on an 11–2 run to take a 15–10 advantage into the second period.
- The Pacers carried that momentum into the early stages of the second quarter, outscoring the Monarchs 9–2 to extend their lead to 24–12. Midway through the frame, Nyleiah White knocked down a three-pointer in an attempt to shift momentum, but William Peace answered immediately with a triple from Zikira Henderson. Jess Worthy added another three to stretch the margin to 36–21 before Methodist finished the half on a 5–2 run, trimming the deficit to 38–26 at the break.
- William Peace began the third quarter missing four of its first five shots, but quickly found its rhythm, connecting on eight of its next 10 attempts from the field, including three from beyond the arc. That surge pushed the Pacers' lead to 62–38. Freshman Taylor Watford paced the Monarchs in the quarter with six points, while White, Gladden, and Grullon each added two.
- In the fourth quarter, Methodist outscored William Peace 16–11, but the deficit proved too large to overcome. Gladden led the Monarchs with six points in the final period, while senior Jehari Jacobs contributed four.
