HOW IT HAPPENED
- The first set began strong for the Monarchs with sophomore Grace Tillery and senior Savannah Hovander snagging a kill within Methodist's first four points in the period. Methodist quickly matched the Knights Tally off kills by Tillery and sophomore Addison Johnson, however, would be subdued for the set point off kills by Ryann Vail and Anne Downs for SVU to take the first stanza, 25-23.
- Methodist would overtake Southern Virginia once more from a service ace by junior Kassidy Edge and senior Faith Driver cashing in a service ace and a kill, respectively, to jumpstart the Monarchs offensive gameplay. Ultimately, this would subside after the Knights went on a four-point scoring run to close out the second stanza with a 25-22 set win.
- Southern Virginia rolled into the final set to take command of the contest, outscoring the Monarchs 14-6 midway through the period. Late kills by Hovander and freshman Harper Evans would not be enough to overtake the Knights in the third stanza, allowing Southern Virginia to take set three 25-13 and the match 3-0 over the Monarchs.
