FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. The Methodist men's tennis team bounced back in dominant fashion on Thursday afternoon, defeating the University of Lynchburg 6–1 in non-conference play at the Gene Clayton Tennis Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Methodist set the tone early by sweeping all three doubles matches to take a 1–0 lead.
- The No. 2 tandem of Matthew Hurley and Decklan Rayner finished first with a dominant 6–0 victory to give the Monarchs early momentum. At the top position, Harry Crokam and Aaron Zoubek followed with a 7–5 win to clinch the doubles point. Billy Johnson and Andrew Waddill completed the sweep at No. 3 doubles, edging out a tight 7–6 (8–6) victory.
- In singles play, the Monarchs continued their momentum by winning five of the six flights.
- At No. 4 singles, Aaron Zoubek was first off the court with a 6–1, 6–3 win over Alvaro Quiroga Amaya to extend the lead. Harry Crokam followed with a 6–2, 6–4 victory against Nicholas Pierreux at the No. 2 position.
- Decklan Rayner clinched the match for Methodist at No. 3 singles, defeating Alexandre Gaboardi 7–6 (7–3), 6–1.
- Lynchburg's lone point came at No. 1 singles, where Matthew Hurley dropped a three-set battle to Richards Spaks, 4–6, 6–2, 2–6.
- The final two matches to finish came at the No. 5 and No. 6 positions. Billy Johnson earned a 6–4, 7–5 win over Daniel Gomes, while Andrew Waddill closed out the day with a hard-fought victory. After taking the first set 7–5, Waddill fell 2–6 in the second before responding in the super tiebreaker, 10–5, to defeat Sebastian Soria.
