ROME, Ga.  After leading the Monarchs at the Savannah Invitational this past weekend, Methodist golfers Jonny Lewis and William Plageman have been recognized by the USA South as Men's Co-Golfers of the Week for each having shot five strokes over par during their three rounds in Savannah. Plageman also received the title of Men's Golf Rookie of the Week, having performed well in what was his first collegiate appearance.

Lewis opened the event with a first-round score of +1 (73), then shot +6 (78) in round two. In the final round, he shot two strokes under par (70) to lift his three-round total to five-over par (221). 

Plageman began with a great round of -3 (69), which was the best opening round of anyone on the team. After recording a second-round score of +8 (80), he bounced back by shooting even par (72) in the final round to keep his score at five-over par (221). 

The Monarchs will compete near home during their next outing, playing at the Tiger Invitational hosted in Pinehurst, North Carolina, on Monday, March 9 and Tuesday, March 10.
