FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. The No. 64 Methodist women's tennis team finishes the regular season in second place in the USA South Conference by handing Southern Virginia their first conference loss, 6–1, on Wednesday at Clayton Tennis Center.
"Today was a tough test for our team," stated Head Coach Scott Handback. "It was very hot with highs in the mid-90s, and our players had to deal with a lot of emotion in securing the conference win. Now we head into the weekend with our final non-conference match before the conference tournament."

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Monarchs raced out to a 1-0 lead, capturing all three doubles matches with Emma Hulicki and Shea Bieniek winning 6-3 at No. 1 doubles, Caitlin Tihanovich and Helen Hofmann winning 7-6 (7-0) at No. 2 doubles, and Katie Sechrist and Addison Haden winning 6-0 at No. 3 doubles.
- Methodist then won five of the six singles matches to capture the team match 6-1. Emma Hulicki won 7-5, 6-2 at No. 1 singles, while Caitlin Tihanovich won 6-2, 6-3 at No. 3 singles. Shea Bieniek continued her successful ways, winning 6-2, 6-1 at No. 4 singles. Wrapping up the match was Katie Sechrist winning 6-1, 6-3 at No. 5 singles and Addison Haden winning 6-2, 6-2 at No. 6 singles. Helen Hofmann dropped the lone singles match with a closely contested 7-5, 6-4 loss at No. 2 singles.
