GREENWOOD, Ind. The College Sports Communicators (CSC) announced its Academic All-District Baseball Teams on Tuesday, with five Methodist University student-athletes earning recognition on the NCAA Division III squad:
Kade Bell,
Andrew Bubon,
Jackson Kuhn,
Clay Pridgen, and
Austin Rinzel.
Rinzel, who recently earned his first career All-America honor, was named to the CSC Academic All-District Team for the second time in his Methodist career. Bell, Bubon, Kuhn, and Pridgen each received the distinction for the first time.
Bell enjoyed a strong debut season with the Monarchs, starting 40 of the 42 games in which he appeared. The Camden, South Carolina, native hit .273 with eight extra-base hits, 18 RBIs, and 29 runs scored. Defensively, he recorded 53 putouts and 114 assists while turning a team-best 25 double plays.
Bubon put together one of the top pitching seasons on the staff. The Longwood, Florida, native tied for the team lead in victories and posted a career-best 3.94 ERA. The right-hander also led Methodist in innings pitched (48.0) and limited opposing hitters to a .273 batting average.
Kuhn served as the Monarchs' top two-way player, contributing both at the plate and on the mound. The Foxfire, North Carolina, native established career highs in hits (21), runs scored (17), RBIs (17), walks (12), and slugging percentage (.322). On the mound, he led the team with three saves and 45 strikeouts, both career-best marks.
Pridgen was a reliable arm out of the bullpen throughout the season. The Warsaw, North Carolina, native made the third-most appearances on the team and logged a career-high 35.0 innings. He finished second on the squad with two saves and ranked third with 25 strikeouts.
