FREDERICKSBURG, Va. Methodist women's soccer traveled to No. 12 University of Mary Washington on Saturday afternoon. The Monarchs battled back to even the score early in the second half, but a late goal propelled the Eagles to a 2–1 victory at Roy Gordon Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Mary Washington took advantage of an early Methodist turnover to open the scoring. A backward pass was intercepted by Skye Lawhun, who dribbled into the box before finding Katie Britton in front of the goal. Britton finished the one-timer to give the Eagles a 1–0 lead.
- Mary Washington's defense held firm throughout the opening 45 minutes, keeping Methodist without a shot while generating nine attempts of its own.
- After 47 minutes without a shot, the Monarchs earned their first offensive opportunity when a Mary Washington foul in the box resulted in a penalty kick. Senior Allye Carter stepped up and calmly placed her attempt into the top-left corner to even the match at 1–1.
- Following the equalizer, the Eagles increased their offensive pressure.
- In the 81st minute, Methodist was issued a red card, forcing the Monarchs to play a player down for the remainder of the match.
- Mary Washington eventually broke through in the 86th minute. After Elise McGee's initial shot was saved by Methodist goalkeeper Kiera Ferguson, but not secured, McGee followed up on the loose ball and found the open left side of the net to restore the Eagles' lead.
- The Monarchs attempted to generate a counterattack in the final minutes, but Mary Washington's defense prevented Methodist from advancing beyond midfield before the final whistle.
