RALEIGH, N.C. – The Methodist University women's volleyball team continued USA South conference play in a midweek battle against the Avenging Angels of Meredith College, falling shy in the match with a close rally in set two, 3-0 inside the Weatherspoon Athletic Center on Tuesday evening.
Final Score: Meredith def. Methodist, 3-0 (9-25, 27-29, 12-25)

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Sophomore Addison Johnson led the Monarchs in the opening stanza with four kills, unfortunately dropping the opening stanza, 25-9, due to Meredith's eleven-point scoring run in the middle of the set, contributed by Caitlyn Russell's two kills and defensive miscues by Methodist.
- Set two was strong for both sides in the arena tonight, with senior Savannah Hovander collecting four kills for Methodist within the period. Sophomore Grace Tillery would contribute two kills in the closing stages of the set, keeping the Monarchs in the contest which would head into extras. However, late kills by Hovander and freshman Harper Evans would not be able to overcome the Avenging Angels in the second stanza for Methodist, faltering 29-27 to Meredith.
- The Monarchs would not fare much better in the closing period, with Avenging Angels collecting an eight-point run from kills by Caitlyn Russell and Kaylie Parker. Two additional kills by Addison Johnson in the set by Methodist would not be able to overcome the offensive domination by Meredith, stalling in set three 25-12 and dropping the contest 3-0 to the Avenging Angels.
BY THE NUMBERS
- Sophomore Addison Johnson led the Monarchs with 10 kills offensively, with senior Savannah Hovander following suit with six kills. Freshman Harper Evans helped progress Methodist's offensive game flow with 18 assists against the Avenging Angels.
- Junior Kassidy Edge controlled the defense for Methodist from three blocks on the night, with sophomore Grace Tillery collecting two against Meredith. Addison Johnson kept the Monarchs in the match with 20 digs in total.
