Jamey Small

Coach Small is in his second season leading Monarch JV Program.  Prior to arriving at Methodist University, Small has seen stints at UNC-Pembroke, Point University, and most recently USA South Conference Rival Greensboro College.

Having wrapped up his playing days as a wide receiver for Catawba College, Small began his coaching career on UNC-Pembroke’s coaching staff, first as a defensive assistant, then later promoted to running backs coach for the Braves while pursuing his master’s degree in sports administration. During his time at UNC-Pembroke, Small was able to guide Harlon Hill candidate, Travis Daniels, to a record-breaking season, which ended with Daniels holding every single-season and career rushing record in school history and earn several All-American awards.

He joined the Point University coaching staff in West Point, Ga. for the spring of 2013 as the running backs coach before being hired as the wide receiver coach for Greensboro College in July of 2013.  While at Greensboro College, Small saw receiving records snapped by his corps which was led by all-conference and 2013 NCAA Division III regular season receptions leader, Dexter Russell.

A native of Rockwell, N.C. and the son of Susette and Shadrack Small, he is the oldest of three children who include his brother Matthew and sister Brittany. He graduated with his bachelor’s degree in physical education from Catawba in 2009 and continuing his master’s degree in sports administration at UNCP.
