Keven Williams

Williams was named head coach of Methodist football prior to the 2016 campaign after seven seasons as an assistant on the Monarch coaching staff. Since 2016, he has coached 29 all-conference players, including 2018 USA South Offensive Player of the Year and First Team All-Conference selection, Vontre Howard.

In 2021 Spring season, Methodist went 4-0 in the regular season, finishing first in the USA South East Division and 4-1 overall after losing the conference championship game. This marks the best season to date under Williams and was the first undefeated regular season in school history.

Williams coached 13 players who were named First Team USA South East Division All-Conference, including Brandon Bullins and Nate Jones. Having 13 players be selected first team all-conference is the first in Williams' tenure as a head coach and the most in one season in school history. The Monarchs offense and defense finished in the top of every statistical category in the conference during the 2021 Spring Season. Bullins finished first in the conference in every passing category, throwing for almost 1,200 yards and 13 TDs in just five games. The Monarchs also saw three WRs finish in the top 10 in receptions on the season: Jamaar Moore (first, 30 rec.), Xzavier McNeil (fourth, 22 rec.), Kobe Praylow (sixth, 18 rec.).

Defensive back Jones finished second in the conference with five interceptions. McNeil broke single-game and single-season reception program records with 14 and 70, respectively. Also forging a spot in program history was freshman quarterback Brandon Bullins. In nine starts, Bullins threw for 2,140 yards, finishing fifth in program history for Methodist. Bullins led the conference in passing yards per game.

In 2018, Methodist finished with a 2-7 record despite a prolific offense. Howard set a new single-season program rushing record with 1,335 rushing yards. He finished first in the conference in rushing yards and 14th nationally. His 10 touchdowns were second in the conference while quarterback Steve Keoni finished third in the conference with 167.4 yards passing a game. Howard was joined by offensive linemen DJ Twitty on the All-USA South first team while three other players were named to the second team.

In 2017, the Monarchs finished with a 2-8 record (2-5 USA South). Williams coached four players to the All-USA South Second Team, including Dylan Cummings and E'Montie Dears. Cummings was second in the league in catches and ranked in the top five in touchdowns, receiving yards and receiving yards per game. Dears finished fourth in the conference in total rushing, while sitting sixth in all-purpose yards.

Williams' first season as head coach saw MU finish 3-6 (2-4 USA South). MU only played a nine-game schedule as the effect of Hurricane Matthew wiped out one of MU's contests.

A long-time offensive coordinator, Williams helped mentor Dears in his first season as head coach. Dears, who played in just eight games, finished fourth in the conference in rushing yards per game (104.6) and fifth in total yards rushing (837). He closed out the year averaging 136.3 yards per game over his last four contests and set a new MU single-game record with 208 yards on 33 carries with three touchdowns in a 38-6 win over Greensboro.

In February of 2009, Williams joined the Monarchs after spending four seasons coaching at Dickinson College. Williams was promoted to offensive coordinator in 2011, as well as assistant recruiting coordinator in 2013.

In the 2014 season, Williams guided a Monarch offense, which once again finished at the top of the conference in many offensive categories.  The Monarch offense finished the season ranked first in points per game, yards per game and first downs per game. Williams also coached Max Reber to his second straight first team all-conference honor, as well as coaching five other offensive players who received all-conference honors including wide receivers Anthony Radke and Pat Jacobs, running back John Papillion and offensive lineman Brandon Sparrow and David Cooper. Reber, for the second straight year, also won the coveted Mason Sykes award, which is awarded to the top male athlete at Methodist University.

In the 2013 season, Williams guided a Monarch offense that finished second in the country in total offense, and had two players, Reber and Vaughn Cross, named to the D3football.com All-South Region Team. Reber also won the prestigious Don Scalf Award, which is awarded to the top male athlete in the USA South Conference. The 2013 season also saw the Monarchs finish in the top 10 nationally in scoring offense, passing offense, red zone offense and completion percentage.

Williams moved to the sidelines and became the co-offensive coordinator for Dickinson after being a four-year starting quarterback for the Red Devils.  As a player, he set single-season school records for passing yards, completions and completion percentage and is second all-time in those categories.  He graduated from Dickinson in 2005 with a Bachelor's degree in international business and management.

A New Jersey native and the son of Bill and Janice, Williams married his wife Suzanne in July of 2011. Suzanne is a second-grade teacher in Fayetteville and was a two-time All-American softball player in college. Williams is the younger of two kids and his sister Kristy has three children, Kylie, Kameron and Cole Peters. In February of 2015, Keven and Suzanne welcomed their first child, Charles Williams and then in May of 2019 they welcomed their daughter, Shae Williams to the family.
