    Assistant Men's Lacrosse Coach (Offense, Recruiting Coordinator)
Mark Frey joined the Methodist University men’s lacrosse coaching staff as an assistant coach prior to the 2020 season, and his addition to the staff paid immediate dividends. The 2020 Monarchs recorded a 91-78 goal differential during their 5-3 start to the season. They also recorded 87 assists, which led the USA South Athletic Conference before the shutdown of the season due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

A McLean, Virginia, native, Frey brings a wealth of experience to the Monarch program. He has served as a head coach or assistant coach at Florida Southern College, Cleveland (Ohio) State, Ferrum (Va.) College, Loyola Marymount (Calif.) University and Chapman (Calif.) University.
  • Florida Southern: served as an assistant coach for two years with the NCAA Division II Moccasins … the program produced winning records in both seasons … the Mocs attack exploded over his two years with the program, improving from 10.27 goals per game (154 goals) before his arrival to an amazing 15.75 per game (252 total) in his second season.
  • Cleveland State: as an assistant with the D-I Vikings, was instrumental in recruiting efforts, and was responsible for developing practice plans and other day-to-day operations.
  • Ferrum: served as the head coach from 2010-17 … the first head coach in Panthers history, initiating the D-III men’s lacrosse program in 2009 … led the squad to six wins in each of his first four seasons … guided Ferrum to the inaugural Southeast Independent Lacrosse Championship title in 2015 … repeated as SEILC champions in 2016, posting the first winning season in program history, earning SEILC Coach of the Year … reached the title game in 2017, becoming the first program to play in the SEILC championship three consecutive years … coached two different student-athletes to SEILC Defensive Player of the Year honors, and also coached an SEILC Long-Stick Midfielder of the Year … mentored 12 players to all-league honors in his final three seasons at the school.
  • Loyola Marymount: the head coach of the Men’s Collegiate Lacrosse Association (MCLA) club program for four seasons … in his final season (2010), Frey led the Lions to a 13-5 record including wins over MCLA national tournament participants University of Colorado and Texas State University, as well as registering victories over top-25-ranked University of Texas and University of Arizona … a member of the Southwest Lacrosse Conference, the Lions closed out the 2010 campaign ranked No. 17 in the MCLA, recording the Lions’ first ever playoff win, an 11-5 victory over University of San Diego in the 2010 SLC tournament.
  • Chapman: served as the offensive coordinator for three years at the NCAA D-III school, helping the Panthers to an 11-win turnaround in his last year before taking the head coaching spot at LMU.
Playing career: Frey began his playing career at The Ohio State University before transferring to McDaniel (Md.) College, where he helped the Green Terror earn a top-10 national ranking.
