Maxwell Smerka joins the Methodist men’s lacrosse coaching staff in 2015 after graduating from Berry College in 2015 with a bachelor’s degree in communications.
 
During his four-year career with the Vikings, Smerka recorded a total of 130 points on 89 goals and 41 assists. Smerka was named a first-team All-SAA midfielder as a sophomore, junior and senior.
 
In addition to his playing career, Smerka also served as a coach for the Copperheads Lacrosse team in 2012, 2013 and 2015. During his time at Berry, he also assisted with numerous lacrosse camps held by the Vikings.
