Mike DeMara

Mike DeMara is in his second season as an assistant coach with the Methodist men's soccer team.

In his first season as an assistant with his alma mater, DeMara helped the Monarchs to an 11-7-2 overall record, including a 7-1-1 mark in league play and the USA South Regular Season Championship. Methodist then advanced to the finals of the USA South Conference Tournament where it fell, 2-1, to Greensboro.

DeMara helped six different players earn all-conference accolades from the conference, including 2013 USA South Player of the Year Eric McGinnis. 

DeMara, a 2008 graduate of Methodist, spent five years as a player under head coach Justin Terranova. In his final two seasons, DeMara led his team in assists earning him USA South All Conference Honors both years as well as a selection to the 2007 USA South All-Tournament Team.  DeMara graduated from Methodist in a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Sport Management.

Prior to returning to Methodist, DeMara spent three seasons at the University of Great Falls  under head coach Paul Zazenski.  In his first season on the coaching staff, UGF posted a 16-4-1 record and won its first Conference Championship. UGF also made its first NAIA National Tournament appearance, beating #2 Simon Frasier in the first round to reach the Sweet 16.  During his second season as the lead assistant, UGF compiled an impressive 16-5 mark and back to back conference championships and NAIA National Tournament "Sweet 16" appearances. In his final season at UGF, he helped guide the team to a 11-4-2 mark an appearance in the conference semifinals.

Before attiving at UGF, DeMara spent time coaching at his alma-mate,r Great Bridge High School, where he was a former captain.   He has also coached youth teams and camps in Fayetteville, N.C., and helped various club teams with his former club Chesapeake United.

DeMara grew up in Chesapeake, VA, where he played 10 years with Chesapeake United Soccer Club and helped take his team to the Virginia State Cup final.  He also played Super-Y League with Beach FC for two seasons playing in tournaments along the east coast.   

DeMara hold a USSF National "D" Coaching License as well as an NSCAA National Diploma.
