FAYETTEVILLE, N.C.  Methodist University student-athletes that compete on the natural grass playing surface at Monarch Stadium will have a different view beginning with the 2020 fall sports season.

The change they will see comes in the form of four newly erected light stands that now allow for night practices and games for the football, men's and women's lacrosse, and men's and women's track & field teams.

"We would like to thank the Mayefskie family for their gracious donation that was the funding source for the entire project," said Vice President and Director of Athletics Dave Eavenson. "With their initiative, not only will the student-athletes in our football, lacrosse, and track and field programs benefit, but the entire Methodist University community as well."

The project physically began to move forward at the stadium in January 2020 and was completed in late May 2020.

The first night game at the stadium is likely to occur in the upcoming football season, but a specific date for that event has not yet been determined. Likewise, the first lacrosse games under the lights for the spring semester men's and women's lacrosse programs are also yet to be determined.
