WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Methodist volleyball team jumped above .500 with two wins on Saturday in Washington D.C. The Monarchs beat Saint Elizabeth 3-0 (25-8, 25-11, 25-8) and Trinity (D.C.) 3-0 (25-5, 25-10, 25-23).
Methodist (13-11) took the early lead against Saint Elizabeth and cruised to the three set victory. Freshman
Jalesty Washington led the team with nine kills while senior
Sara Yeatman added seven. Freshman
Kelsey Yates had 26 assists for the Monarchs. Freshman
Samantha Arrington had seven service aces and junior
Jordan Grady led the team with 14 digs.
In the second match, Methodist made quick work of Trinity with a 25-5 win in the first set. The Monarchs won the second set 25-10 before Trinity made a late push in the third set but Methodist prevailed 25-23. Junior
Allison Averitt led the team with six kills and two solo blocks while Washington added another five kills. Yates served up six aces and Grady paced the team with 15 digs.
The Monarchs will play their final regular season home match on Tuesday night against Meredith at 7 pm. Senior
Sara Yeatman will be honored as part of "senior night" recognition.
