Monarchs Fall to N.C. Wesleyan

Box Score FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - The Monarchs held N.C. Wesleyan scoreless through the first 39 minutes before the Bishops tallied a goal just before halftime.  They added three more in the second half to take the 4-0 win.  Methodist moves to 6-6 this season and 2-1 in the USA South while N.C. Wesleyan is 8-2 overall and 3-0 in the conference.

Danny Persson scored the first goal for N.C. Wesleyan off of a loose ball in the box from a corner kick.  The Monarchs were down 1-0 at halftime, but the Bishops scored a quick header off of a corner kick in the first two minutes of the second half.  Persson tallied another goal on a first-time finish off the pass from Ousman Sarr and Benjamin Schmedes finished off the scoring with a penalty kick goal.

The Monarchs goalkeeper Kyle Beach made eight saves while Porir Gudnason had two saves for N.C. Wesleyan.

Methodist will travel to Chowan on Tuesday for a 4 pm kickoff.
