ATLANTA, GA - Spelman scored first against the Methodist women's soccer team on Friday night, but the Monarchs came from behind to win 3-1 at Emory. The Monarchs out shot the Jaguars 11-5 on the way to the season opening victory.
Sharrita Carters scored the first goal of the game in the 14th minute of the game. The Monarchs responded with a goal three minutes later by junior Michelle Anderson on the assist from junior Erica Nath. Freshman Christine Ellington gave Methodist the lead six minutes later. Junior Whitney Roberson assisted freshman Lauren Colenda for the Monarchs' third goal.
Sophomore goalkeeper Kasey Nichols made two saves for Methodist while Amanda Tyler had three saves for Spelman.
The Monarchs will face Emory on Saturday at 8:30 pm.
