Mount Olive Defeats Methodist 4-0

Box Score FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - The first 32 minutes of play went scoreless but Mount Olive took a 1-0 lead at halftime and scored three unanswered goals in the second half to win 4-0.  The Monarchs move to 1-2 while Mount Olive improves to 4-0 this season.

Both teams managed six shots a piece through the first half, but Mount Olive capitalized on a corner kick in the 33rd minute for Anthony Payne to score.  The Trojans came back in the second half with three goals in less than five minutes to cruise to the 4-0 win.

The Monarchs put together 11 shots on the day led by junior Bret Brennan, but Mount Olive goalkeeper Chris Slaughter finished with four saves for the shutout.  Methodist goalkeeper Patrick Murphy also had four saves in goal.

Methodist will travel to the Christopher Newport Invitational this weekend with games against the College of New Jersey and New Jersey City.
