Box Score FAYETTEVILLE, NC. - Methodist University took its second win of the season by shutting out Guilford College 4-0 Wednesday afternoon at the Monarch Soccerplex.  Methodist improves to 2-4 and Guilford moves to 0-5 on the season.  

The Monarchs took the lead in the 23rd minute when Mike Demara took a corner kick, allowing Brion Kelly to tip the ball to Evan Monteiro for a goal.  The score remained 1-0 until early in the second half when Evan Monteiro scored again with an assist from Bret Brennan.  Senior James Gunderson made a pass from the endline to assist Bret Brennan for the third goal of the game.  Freshman Julian Hart beat his defender to make the last goal of the game, making the final score 4-0.

Freshman goalkeeper, Kyle Beach made seven saves for the Monarchs.  Guilford goalie Peter Truitt had four saves for the Quakers.

Methodist will host Southeastern University this Saturday, September 20 at 11:30am.
