Box Score FERRUM, Va. - The Methodist men's soccer team was down a player for the final 40 minutes of the second half, but scored in the final minute to send the game into overtime.  Bret Brennan's second goal of the game gave Methodist the 2-1 win.  The Monarchs move to 4-4 overall and 1-0 in the USA South while Ferrum is 2-6 overall and 0-2 in the conference.

After a delay waiting for referees, Methodist and Ferrum kicked off with senior Mike DeMara taking a shot off the post in the second minute of play.  It was Ferrum who scored first on a penalty kick in the 34th minute.  The Panthers held the 1-0 lead at halftime and after a second yellow card five minutes into the second half, the Monarchs battled with 10 players on the field.

Methodist had 10 shots in the second half, but could not find the equalizer until the final minute.  Brandon Cunningham fed Bret Brennan for the game-tying goal.  The first overtime period passed with just two shots from Ferrum, but after a shot from James Gunderson was blocked, Brennan scored the game-winning goal for the Monarchs.

Kyle Beach had four saves for the Monarchs while Ferrum's goalkeeper Chris Taylor had 10 saves.

The Monarchs will play at Randolph-Macon Wednesday at 4 pm.
