Box Score FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - The Methodist men's soccer team scored a goal early and went ahead 3-0 before finishing up with the 3-1 win over Ferrum College.
Prior to Saturday's game, the Methodist Monarchs (7-8, 3-1) recognized seniors
Thomas Blum and
Bret Brennan in their final regular season home game. Brennan kept the celebration going when he tallied the game's first goal in the 13th minute with a shot to the far post.
Freshman
Brendan Wilson added a goal just before half with an assist from freshman
Shane Davis to give Methodist the 2-0 lead at halftime.
Brennan ripped another shot past the Panthers' goalkeeper just three minutes into the second half for the 3-0 lead. Ferrum came back with a goal in the 54th minute after scoring on a header past the Monarchs' defense. Methodist out shot the Panthers 6-3 in the second half to finish with the 3-1 win.
Sophomore
Kyle Beach made four saves for the Monarchs while James Flynn had five stops for Ferrum.
Methodist will travel to Barton on Monday for a 7 pm game.
