Men's Soccer Shuts Out Barton 3-0

Box Score WILSON, N.C. - Methodist finished took on NCAA Division II Barton College in a non-conference match-up Monday night and shutout the Bulldogs 3-0.

Methodist (8-8) out shot Barton 8-4 in the first half, but it wasn't until freshman Steve Harris gained possession and scored in the 36th minute to give the Monarchs the lead.  Methodist held on to the 1-0 lead at halftime, but senior Bret Brennan cushioned the lead with a goal off of a free kick in the 75th minute.  With just over five minutes left to play junior Stephen Fox crossed the ball into freshman Bradley Thomas for the final goal of the game.

Freshman Ryan Gill made two saves in the shutout for the Monarchs while Brian Riesenberg had five stops for Barton.

The Monarchs will travel to N.C. Wesleyan on Wednesday for a rescheduled USA South game at 3 pm.
