Methodist Men's Soccer Wins 2-1 Over Shenandoah

Box Score WINCHESTER, Va. - The Methodist men's soccer team closed out the regular season with a 2-1 win over Shenandoah University.

The Monarchs (9-9, 4-2) out shot the Hornets (4-10-2, 1-5) 5-2 in the first half and took the 1-0 lead with a goal from freshman Scott Smith in the 44th minute after the assist from freshman Shane Davis. Shenandoah tied the game at one in the first two minutes of the second half, but Methodist senior Bret Brennan scored the eventual game-winning goal in the 63rd minute after an assist from sophomore Jeff Fallier.

Methodist goalkeeper Kyle Beach made one save in the game.

The Monarchs secured the third seed in the USA South tournament and will host a first round game on Tuesday.  Check back for updates on tournament seeding.
