STAUNTON, Va. - The Methodist volleyball team finished their regular season with two wins over Mary Baldwin and Peace in a USA South Athletic Conference tri-match. The Monarchs finish 10-8 in conference play to earn the fourth seed in the tournament.
Methodist jumped out on Mary Baldwin early to earn the 3-0 (25-16, 25-12, 25-15) win over the Fighting Squirrels.
Jalesty Washington led the team with 12 kills while
Stephanie Wood and
Taylor Cates added 10 a piece.
Jordan Grady had 20 digs while
Kelsey Yates had 11 digs and
Kayci Miller finished with 31 assists.
In the second match of the day, Peace took an early 0-2 lead over the Monarchs, but Methodist battled back for the 3-2 (25-27, 18-25, 25-22, 25-20, 15-10) win. Wood came up with 21 kills while Washington had 14 and Cates finished with 10. Miller dished out 41 assists and 13 digs while Grady paced the team with 24 digs. Yates had 18 digs for Methodist.
The Monarchs will host a quarterfinal match on Tuesday at 7 pm. Check back for updates once the tournament seeding has been finalized.
