Monarchs Shutout Emory & Henry

Brad Davis led with four RBI

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - Methodist won their fourth straight game Wednesday afternoon with a 16-0 shutout over Emory & Henry.

Methodist started the first inning with a couple of hits and capitalized on defensive errors along with some smart base running to take the 3-0 lead. Emory & Henry led off with a hit in the second inning, but it would be their first of just two hits all day as the Monarchs maintained control of the game.

Brian Inghram hit a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the second and Methodist added two runs in the third capitalizing on defensive errors. Ahead 6-0 going into the fourth, Brad Davis doubled and Dustin Proctor hit one over the fence in left field to increase the lead to eight. Methodist batted through the order in the fifth scoring five runs on four hits and added three more in the sixth on two hits.

Davis finished 3-for-4 on the day with four RBI while Trey Such hit 3-for-3 and Brian Goodwin went 3-for-5 at the plate. Tripp Lancaster, Inghram and Proctor picked up two hits a piece.

Elliott Bisplinghoff pitched seven scoreless innings allowing just one hit with four strikeouts. Landon Jordan pitched one inning with two strikeouts and Ryan Fasano finished up with one hit and one strikeout in the final frame.

The Monarchs will host Albertus-Magnus in a doubleheader on Thursday at 3 pm.
