HILTON HEAD, S.C. - The Methodist women's tennis team battled frigid temperatures in their second match of spring break to win 7-2 over York College of Pennsylvania.
Methodist jumped out to the 3-0 lead after doubles competition.
Kaitlin Flaherty and
Shannon Vivian won 8-1 at number one doubles while
Lindsey Davis and
Dana Powell won 8-3 at number two.
Heather Brayton and
Cameron Tinkham finished the sweep with a 8-1 victory at number three.
Flaherty kept up the pressure with a 6-0, 6-0 win at number one singles while Vivian won 6-2, 6-1 at number two. Davis won 6-2, 6-0 at number three and Powell won 6-1, 6-3 at number four. Brayton lost an epic battle at number five 1-6, 6-4, 1-0 (10-8) and Tinkham lost 3-8 in an eight game pro set at number six.
The Monarchs will take on Augustana and Adrian on Tuesday to finish out their spring break matches.
