LYNCHBURG, Va. - It took just four hits as the Monarchs prevailed 2-1 over 14th ranked Lynchburg College Tuesday afternoon.

Lynchburg left two in the bottom of the second before Methodist took advantage of a Hornet error in the third. Peter Yusckat was hit by a pitch to lead off and scored on a throwing error from Brian Goodwin's intended sacrifice. Methodist held the 1-0 lead through the next five innings.

Brian Inghram led off the ninth for Methodist with a single to center field and moved to second on Such's sacrifice bunt. Brian Halpin followed up with a RBI-single to center to score Inghram giving the Monarchs the 2-0 lead. Lynchburg tried to rally in the bottom of the ninth scoring one unearned run, but relief pitcher Landon Jordan struck out the final batter to preserve the 2-1 win.

Tre' Britt pitched the first six scoreless innings giving up seven hits and striking out eight with just two walks. Jordan pitched the final three innings to earn the save.

Bryan Breedlove took the loss for the Hornets.
