Box Score NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - The Methodist men's soccer team traveled to Christopher Newport to take on Marietta College Saturday night. The Pioneers out shot the Monarchs, but Methodist prevailed 1-0 in overtime.

Marietta (2-4-1) had five shots in the first half, but the game was scoreless at halftime. Both teams had opportunities in the second half, but with the score still tied at zero at the end of regulation, they went to overtime.

Methodist (2-5) junior Stan Pajak took the first shot in overtime but it went high. Freshman Shane Davis scored the game-winning goal in the 97th minute of play to give the Monarchs the win.

The Monarchs' sophomore goalkeeper Kyle Beach had five saves in the win to hold on for the shutout while Andrew Shannon made one save for Marietta.

Methodist will host Guilford College on Wednesday at 4 pm.
