Men's Soccer Shuts Out Randolph 2-0

Box Score LYNCHBURG, Va. - The Methodist men's soccer team picked up a 2-0 win at Randolph College. The Monarchs scored a goal in each half to earn the victory on the road.

Methodist senior Bret Brennan gave the Monarchs the early lead in the 18th minute on an assist from junior Brion Kelly. Methodist held a 1-0 lead at halftime after being out shot 8-5.

The Monarchs had more opportunities in the second half and freshman Scott Smith cushioned the lead with a goal in the 58th minute after an assist from Brennan.

Sophomore goalkeeper Kyle Beach made eight saves in 80 minutes of action. Beach combined with freshman Ryan Gill for the shutout. Gill added a save in the win.

Randolph goalkeeper Aaron Humphreys had seven stops for the WildCats.

The Monarchs will be back at home this weekend to host Covenant on Saturday at 11:30 am and Chowan on Sunday at 4 pm.
