Box Score FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - The Methodist University men's soccer team battled top ranked Christopher Newport University scoreless for 65 minutes before the Captains tallied two goals to win 2-0.
Both teams had opportunities in the first half, but neither team scored leaving the game tied at zero at halftime. Christopher Newport scored first when Danny Franklin assisted Andrew Bonorden on a counter attack. A little more than four minutes later the Captains added an insurance goal from Sam Venker.
Methodist finished with four shots to the Captains 14.
Kyle Beach made three saves for the Monarchs and Justin Wolfe had two for CNU.

Methodist will be back in action on Wednesday when they host N.C. Wesleyan on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m.
