Box Score FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - The Methodist men's soccer team saw a 2-1 lead slip away on Wednesday as N.C. Wesleyan earned the 3-2 win in overtime.

The Bishops (11-3-1, 4-0) scored the first goal of the game in the 17th minute to take the lead. Methodist (8-8, 1-3) came back in the second half and countered with a goal from Clayton Newton on the assist from Eric McGinnis in the 53rd minute. Less than seven minutes later, Brion Kelly took a free kick to the left of the goal and the rebound came back to McGinnis to feed Shane Davis for the Monarchs' second goal of the game.

With just 15 minutes to play, N.C. Wesleyan's Billy Arnez capitalized on a screen by the center official to slip the game-tying goal to the far post. With less than 10 seconds to play in regulation, Methodist had one final chance, but the Bishops' goalkeeper Ville Ture came up with the save to send the game to overtime.

The Monarchs had the first shot in overtime from Alex Ray, but N.C. Wesleyan found the back of the net first with the game-winning goal in the 97th minute on a header inside the six-yard box.

Methodist goalkeeper Kyle Beach made two saves while Ture finished with eight for the Bishops.

The Monarchs will be back in action next Wednesday when they travel to Greensboro for a 3 p.m. kick-off.
