Men's Soccer Dominates for 5-1 Victory

Box Score FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - Methodist men's soccer scored five goals before Barton got on the board, but the Monarchs finished with the 5-1 win.

Methodist freshman Eric McGinnis kept slipping past the Barton defense in the early minutes before breaking through for a goal in the 30th minute on a shot to the far post. Pat VanCura made it 2-0 with a shot from 40 yards out over the goalkeeper and into side netting.

The Monarchs came back in the second half and Stan Pajak scored two goals ten minutes apart. First he slotted a ball past the goalkeeper in a one versus one and then scored on a header off of a corner kick from Clayton Newton. McGinnis scored his second goal of the game on a header off of Brion Kelly's cross from the left side.

Barton found the back of the net in the 79th minute with a goal off of a free kick, but Methodist finished with the 5-1 win.

Kyle Beach made two saves for Methodist and Patrick Hamel added one. Brian Riesenberg and Dalton Bauer had two stops a piece for the Bull Dogs.

Methodist will be back in action on Saturday when they host Virginia Intermont at noon.
