Box Score FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - The Methodist men's soccer team came from behind to win 3-1 in the USA South Tournament first round game over Ferrum College.

The Panthers (4-12-2) came out and scored in the sixth minute of play catching the Monarchs off guard. Methodist maintained the majority of the possession and out shot Ferrum 15-4 in the first half, but it was not until Eric McGinnis fed Jared Fohs a shot through the defense to set up a one versus one opportunity and the game-tying goal in the 32nd minute.

Just over three minutes into the second half Alex Ray and McGinnis created a give-and-go allowing McGinnis to score what would be the game-winning goal. The Monarchs kept up the offensive pressure and Ray scored a goal of his own after a pass from Fohs was deflected off of McGinnis and Ray kept the Ferrum goalkeeper from holding onto the ball.

Methodist finished with the 3-1 win to advance to the USA South Tournament against top-seeded N.C. Wesleyan College. The two teams will face off in Martinsville, Va. at noon on Friday, Nov. 5. The Monarchs will look to avenge an earlier overtime loss this season. [Tournament Web Site]

Ferrum's Chris Taylor had 10 saves while Kyle Beach made two stops for the Monarchs.
