FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - USA South Athletic Conference play kicked off on Tuesday when the Methodist women's tennis team dominated Greensboro College with a 9-0 win.
The Monarchs lost just one game in doubles as they took the early 3-0 lead over the Pride.
Kaitlin Flaherty and
Katherine Meindl won 8-0 at number one and
Rachel Purser and
Dana Powell won 8-1 at number two.
Heather Brayton and
Jennifer Hamel won 8-0 at number three.
Meindl earned the 6-0, 6-0 shutout at number one singles and Powell won 6-0, 6-0 at number four.
Stacey Brooks won 6-1, 6-1 at number six.
Kelli Shelton won 6-0, 6-0 at number five and Brayton fought through a tiebreaker in the first set to win 7-6, 6-2 at number three. Purser completed the sweep with a 6-3, 7-5 win at number two.
The Monarchs will take the road this weekend to play at Averett on Saturday and Mary Baldwin on Sunday.
