FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - The Methodist baseball team jumped out to an early 1-0 lead, but Rhodes came back and earned the 6-1 win.

In the bottom of the first, Shawn Lovette hit a double to right center before scoring on a single from Trey Such. The Monarchs held the 1-0 lead through the first three innings before Rhodes scored two runs in the fourth with back-to-back doubles and a single. A two-run home run and a sacrifice fly gave the Lynx the 5-1 lead before they added an insurance run in the eighth to earn the 8-1 win.

Such was 2-for-4 on the day with a RBI. Brian Inghram and Brian Goodwin added two hits a piece.

Sean Willingham pitched 5.2 innings with six strikeouts while Tre' Britt and Rusty White entered in relief.

The Monarchs will host Ferrum this weekend in a USA South conference series. The first game kicks off Saturday at 1 p.m. with the second on Sunday at 2 p.m.
