DANVILLE, Va. - The Methodist women's tennis team kept up their winning ways with a 9-0 victory at Averett University Saturday afternoon.

The Monarchs picked up a win in doubles and singles right off the bat when Averett had to default without six players. Kaitlin Flaherty and Katherine Meindl won 8-1 at number one doubles and Rachel Purser and Dana Powell won 8-0 at number two to take the 4-0 lead.

Flaherty won 6-1, 6-1 at number one singles and Meindl won 6-2, 6-2 at number two. Heather Brayton won 6-0, 6-0 at number three and Kelli Shelton won 6-0, 6-2 at number four. Jennifer Hamel finished up with the 6-0, 6-0 win at number five for the 9-0 sweep.

The Monarchs will travel to Mary Baldwin for a 1 p.m. match on Sunday.
