FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - The Methodist women's tennis team won their fifth straight USA South Athletic Conference match on Saturday with a 9-0 victory over Ferrum College.
The Monarchs cruised to the early 3-0 lead after doubles play.
Jennifer Hamel and
Heather Brayton won 8-1 at number three and
Dana Powell and
Rachel Purser won 8-1 at number two.
Kaitlin Flaherty and
Katherine Meindl finished up with the 8-0 win at number one doubles.
Methodist lost just one game during singles to finish with the 9-0 shutout. Flaherty won 6-0, 6-0 at number one and Meindl won 6-0, 6-0 at number two. Purser won 6-1, 6-0 at number three and Brayton won 6-0, 6-0 at number four. Powell won 6-0, 6-0 at number five and
Kelli Shelton won 6-0, 6-0 at number six.
The Monarchs will travel to Peace on Tuesday for a 3:30 match.
