FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - The Monarchs held Virginia Wesleyan to just two hits Wednesday night as they cruised to the 11-0 shutout.
Tripp Lancaster started things off for Methodist with a double to right and moved to third on a wild pitch.
Brian Inghram grounded out to score Lancaster for the early 1-0 lead. The floodgates opened in the fourth when the Monarchs had four hits to go along with two walks to score five runs and lead 6-0.
Matt Quick hit a RBI single in the fifth to score
Brian Goodwin and
Tyler Younger drew the walk and scored on a double play to increase the lead to eight.
Brian Halpin hit a ball to the fence in center to score the Monarchs ninth run of the day.
Methodist added two runs in the eighth after Inghram drew the lead-off walk and
Tyler Wiles drove him in with a triple to right center field.
Ryan Stack reached on an error to score Wiles. The Monarchs finished with the 11-0 win.
Sean Willingham picked up the win with 13 strikeouts in seven innings pitched giving up just two hits. Tre' Britt and
John Markley pitched an inning a piece to finish in relief.
Lancaster led the Monarchs at the plate hitting 4-for-5.

Brian Goodwin# and Quick added two hits a piece.
The Monarchs will travel to Greensboro on Friday for a USA South conference game at 5 p.m.
